About

Spaciousness fuses with tiny home-inspired design, in this top-floor, purpose-built micro-apartment. High ceilings, large windows, and tree-top views combine to make 'Hive' a space you'll want to linger in. There is a full but micro kitchen, custom-built joinery, and luxury finishes all bought together by a thoughtful themed design. 'Hive' uniquely channels boutique hotel feels, and at the same time, cozy at-home comfort. Plus it’s just 350m from a tram stop and a 10 min walk to Lonsdale St.

Good to know

"Hive', is the top level of three custom-built, cleverly themed boutique micro apartments part of the 'GREEN ROOMS'. Arguably the penthouse of the GREEN ROOMS, the daringly green-painted apartment features a designer graphical hexagon and monstera leaves tiled wallpaper. The angular print converges with the room's angular walls to create a unique space. Follow us for more on what our place is all about: @greenroomsbraddon The room has a half-height fluted glass fixed panel that partially segregates the space into two different areas - kitchen/living/bathroom and bedroom/wardrobe/laundry. There is one queen-sized bed and an Ecosa sofa in the kitchen/living area that folds out into a double-sized bed. PLEASE NOTE: Sofa-bed linen and an extra set of towels will be supplied only when you book a 3rd person for your stay. If you would like the extras supplied without the 3rd person booking there is an additional linen charge of $50. Please let me know when you book that you would like the additional linen. The ducted air conditioning will ensure you stay comfortably cool or cozy through all of Canberra's seasons. There is on-street free parking in the cul-de-sac and on the main street. Plus you're smack bang in between two tram stops. About 350m from your doorstop in both directions and electric scooters are never far away. BEDROOM / LAUNDRY: The queen-sized mattress sits on a custom-built bed base with a paneled green velvet bedhead. The bed base has inbuilt soft close draws at the end and open shelf storage along the side. There is a large, half-height window facing toward the City to the right of the bed. The window looks out to the treelined street and is finished with a roller blind and sheer textured curtains so you can create the light to suit your mood. There's another large half-height window that faces west and is fitted with the same quality window furnishings. At the bed end side, is a purpose-built suitcase storage shelf, topped with a stone benchtop. Above the bench hangs two brass hanging rails, for you to hang clothes for your stay, or to spread your things out a little when you're trying to decide on your outfit. Behind the rails, is a wide, full-length mirror plus a Remington Jetsetter 2000 (2000 watts) hair dryer. There is a Bosch washer-dryer combo under a stone benchtop and overhead cupboards equipped with laundry essentials and a steam iron. Also included is a safe if you want to pack away certain belongings when you're out and about on adventures throughout the Canberra region. KITCHEN / LIVING: The living area features a super comfy Ecosa sofa-bed, in a cloud grey fabric. For a little bit more space (or an extra person), the sofa can be converted into a double-sized bed. Please note however to stay comfortably here, two people is the magic number. The sofa-bed extends to the wall, and so you’ll need to step over it to get to the bathroom. If you’re happy to compromise your space, then three might just be your magic number. We'd recommend packing it up and setting it up daily during your stay to ensure maximum use of the space. It's easy to lose time if you're staying in, watching literally anything on the 4K high-def, 43-inch Smart TV. But if you're not in the mood for watching TV, just log into your fave music app, and play your favorite tunes while you relax. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you'll need to cook up you're faves. Cooking utensils, baking dishes, beautiful serveware plus the essentials like olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, tea, instant coffee, and sugar. There's an induction cooktop, and a combi oven which you can bake and reheat in. There's a full-sized dishwasher, an integrated half fridge (please note there is no freezer), and a Nespresso coffee machine with pods. If you're dining in, one of the two sofa tables will have you covered to eat your delicious cook-up. WORKSPACE: If you need to get on your laptop for a few hours, the side table is a height-adjustable laptop table. You can sit and work from the sofa or adjust it to a standing height to work from anywhere in the apartment. BATHROOM: The bathroom features a gorgeous free-standing pedestal basin with brass tapware and a frosted awning window. The decent-sized shower comes with a monsoon shower plus a handheld shower head. Stocked with hand and body wash, plus lotion and Monday shampoo and conditioner.

Other Details to Note

PARKING: There is no dedicated car park for this micro-apartment. There is free 2-hour on-street parking on the street the apartment is on. We've never seen the parking monitored and our guests park there with no problems. However, if you prefer, there is a public car park adjacent to the apartment for $7.50 per day parking rate. ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE: We own a fully restored, custom-designed 1966, 13-window, double-door VW Kombi. It's painted Gulf blue in a matt finish with Champagne colour feature accents and a tan leather interior. It's one of a kind, and a bit of a local rockstar here on the Streets of Braddon. If you want that bit of extra attention when you show up to an event, or you need a ridiculously cool transfer to or from the airport, or you're just keen to explore the Canberra wine region and enjoy the ride too, we have a bunch of packages that will no doubt help to create a memorable stay. Holla if you're interested in getting more info and pricing when you book.

Neighborhood

Braddon is Canberra's most densely populated suburb, so it's no surprise that the lifestyle and entertainment options in Braddon are thriving. Braddon is home to arguably some of the best coffee in Canberra. Even the most particular of coffee connoisseurs will be impressed by Barrio Collective Coffee, on Lonsdale Street and Lonsdale Street Roasters. Also on Lonsdale Street is a slew of bars and restaurants, with spots along this strip topping many of Canberra’s ‘must-visit’ lists for brunch, breweries, vino, and vibes. Staying right in the heart of it all guarantees you’ll never be bored — with different spots for date night every day of the week, there’s no reason to venture beyond Braddon. Particularly worthy of mention is Bentspoke, which is consistently named as one of Canberra’s best microbreweries, eightysix restaurant, and our favorite, Corella. You’ll see plenty of impressive street art along the roadside buildings and several yoga studios and modern gyms, art classes, and music schools all located in Braddon. Haig Park comes to life every Sunday with the Haig Park Markets. From live music, delish street eats, fresh produce, and everything in between, it's a must-do if you're in town over the weekend. When you want to head out but don't want to get right into it on Lonsdale Street, The Howling Moon is at the end of the street, right next to the Astin apartments. It's a rooftop bar with arguably one of the best views across Canberra. You can settle in with a bottle of wine or two, get some snacks or drop in for a main meal.

Guest access

You'll have access to the entire 1 bedroom micro apartment.
